Swine Flu: Path to Martial Law?

Could a form of martial law be imminent? Obama appears ready to cross the Rubicon, and all he needs is a killer virus.
Let’s connect some dots.
Remember President Obama’s Executive Order basing 80,000 active troops at home for the first time in the history of the peacetime military establishment to “help with civil unrest and crowd control or to deal with potentially horrific scenarios such as massive poisoning and chaos in response to a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or high-yield explosive, or CBRNE, attack….”
Now connect that information to the recent announcement that the military has established regional deployment locations all across the United States to “assist civilian authorities in the event of a significant outbreak of the H1N1 virus this fall, according to Defense Department officials.”
Civil unrest and crowd control? Significant outbreak of the H1N1 virus this fall? What do they know that we don’t?
Swine flu has been made into a crisis in the minds of the public, even though swine flu, or H1N1, is the most non-lethal “killer” virus ever uncovered. As a cataclysmic event demanding military assistance, it ranks near zero. It is doubtful whether swine flu could even be classified as an “epidemic,” much less a “pandemic.”
Regular influenza, the common flu, kills 36,000 people every year. The 1918 flu pandemic killed an estimated 50-100 million people worldwide over a period of two years, approximately one-third the population of Europe at that time. Global swine flu deaths topped just 1,000 this year.
But President Obama is predicting death tolls of 90,000 and possible infection of up to half the US population.
While every life matters, in statistical terms swine flu is a comparatively minor problem, which makes the hype by those in government and the military all the more suspicious.
The National Guard is even practicing mock takeovers of public schools in the event of an “H1N1 riot,” a description that elicits mixed responses. What kind of riot could arise out of a flu that has only killed 1,000 worldwide? Washington certainly seems to be looking for some rationale for enhanced domestic military involvement, whether credible or not.
Martial law has essentially been on the table since President Obama took office, thanks to the Bush Administration’s dramatic revisions of the Posse Comitatus Act —which limited deployment of the US military at home—in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. With impeccable timing, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has gone before Congress asking for the unprecedented authority to base 400,000 soldiers in communities all across the United States.
A recent US Army War College Report even outlined the conditions under which martial law could be introduced, listing:
…unforeseen economic collapse, loss of functioning political and legal order, purposeful domestic resistance or insurgency, pervasive public health emergencies, and catastrophic natural and human disasters are all paths to disruptive domestic shock. [Emphasis added.]
The CDC is finalizing quarantine regulations formulated during the Bush years that provide for quarantining “a large group of persons” suspected of having swine flu or other illnesses listed in an executive order. This means that President Obama can quarantine anyone as long as they have an illness he determines to be dangerous. These new regulations even permit “provisional” quarantine of persons not actually carrying any virus. In one section, the regulations empower the president to quarantine anyone that does not agree to be vaccinated, an ominous condition since recent investigations have revealed that swine flu vaccines can cause serious medical complications. Thousands of doctors have voiced strong opposition to the proposed swine flu vaccine, due to its association with neurological disorders. No matter, a bill before the Massachusetts State Senate would permit authorities to enter homes and detain without warrant citizens who do not agree to be forcibly vaccinated. Iowa just released a new Orwellian quarantine policy directive that states in the event of a swine flu outbreak, “your home and other less restrictive alternatives are not acceptable.” These moves appear to be the result of federal incentives advancing mandatory vaccination.
The Army hasn’t missed a step, putting out ads for “Internment/Resettlement Specialists.” And, though most of the wild claims about “FEMA camps” have been appropriately and properly discredited, the fact remains that the Homeland Security Department has signed a $385 million contract with Halliburton subsidiary KBR Construction to build such facilities on an “as-needed” basis.
If you’re not already feeling nervous, revisit President Obama’s spine-chilling campaign pledge:
We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.
With the Serve America Act, this alarming proposition has become reality. The broad authority given to this force is staggering. Section 1505 gives the newly created National Civilian Community Corps the power to address national “needs” related to “natural and other disasters,” “infrastructure improvement,” “environmental stewardship and conservation,” “energy conservation,” and “urban and rural development.” The legislation reiterates that the corps will “combine the best practices of civilian service with the best aspects of military service.”
Nowhere have these two spheres ever been combined that tyranny has not resulted.
If these recent events were mere coincidence, Americans could peacefully go about their business. But Obama is no ordinary President. This is the man who began his political career in the home of terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, former members of the notorious Weather Underground that plotted the deaths of 25 million Americans in “re-education camps.”
Even so, it sounds crazy, doesn’t it? Mass internment and quarantine of Americans? Martial law used illegally to quell opposition to government policies? After all, this is America, not some banana republic.
But this is not the America of even 10 years ago. This is President Obama’s brave new America. Differences of opinion are criminalized, violating freedom of conscience in the deepest sense. Freedom of the press is assaulted with newspaper “bailouts” and diversity requirements imposed on local radio stations. Children face the possibility of weeklong, year-round education, effectively circumventing parents and making children wards of the state. Czars govern in the place of elected officials. Key private sector companies are now under the direct control of the President.
The President has even proven willing to use healthcare reform to target the elderly, recasting human life in terms of the collective good. The White House has even urged fellow citizens to inform on opponents of Obama’s healthcare bill. In this environment, the prospect of martial law doesn’t sound that far-fetched.
But isn’t this unconstitutional? No matter. The Constitution means nothing to President Obama, who has repeatedly implied the need to “break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution….”
Thomas Jefferson had a different view:
Confidence is everywhere the parent of despotism…In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.
But when the President considers the Constitution to be nothing more than an archaic suggestion, no travesty is unthinkable. And the unthinkable is only a manufactured flu pandemic away. I desperately hope I am wrong in connecting these dots, but in light of the President’s stated agenda, and his known track record on ethical issues, the possibility of abuses must be considered. After all, stranger things have happened.

While all this sounds not very far fetched at all, I couldn’t help but wonder which president exactly you were writing about. It seems like these were/are all attributes to the Bush regime.
And while Bush was in office it was almost unconscionable and Un-American to make these kinds of comments. However now that Obama is in, and a Democrat, I hear nothing but attacks on him in all the media outlets. My favorite oldies station has even changed it’s format to talk radio and does nothing but vilify the current president.
While I agree with the comments about the swine flu not being a pandemic, you seem to add to the hype. Instead of fear mongering, why can’t you spend more time informing the public on how we may protect ourselves and make our immune systems more healthy.
I have told everyone that i know that there is going to be a war in this Country and it is not long off, it is right up on us.

I think you have ACORNS up your Ayers. Stop trying to find fault with Bill Ayers. George W Bush and dick Cheney lied to start a war of imperialist aggression and then proceeded to kill over one million people for profit. the crimes of Ayers does not equate to the evilness of the former administration. Then there is the matter of allowing 9/11 to occur. That too was infinitely worse than anything Ayers did as a young man.
This is not a Democratic or Republican issue, this is a WE THE PEOPLE issue. The real threat to our freedom is the upper 1% plutocracy and their multinational corporations who control Congress and the White House, no matter which political party is in the majority, and no matter who is in office.
WE THE PEOPLE are the sovereignty in America, not our federal government. That is the law, but not the practice. That is why we need a Constitutional Revolution to get our mutinous, treasonous employees in our government back under our control.

Bravo, I agree, and you brought up great valid points. Well said. My only question is: I don’t believe that the Bush administration ‘allowed’ 9-11. I believe there was absolute complicity. A website called “what really happened” has the details. Thanks.
Well, our dear “change” president is perpetuating the madness. Same dog, different color. They all go to the same school. Can’t you see that? Its about them and us, not Republican vs Democrats. Don’t fall for that. We got rid of Clinton for the Republicans, got rid of the Republicans for the Democrats. Neither had done zilch. That’s why people are upset. Get it?
This sounds like a little old fashioned fear and running of the mouth because I don’t think Obama or anyone has the right to force people to do anything, this is Democracy people speak up and let other people know how they feel and so on and on. I also do not believe getting healthcare for the uninsurable is a bad thing and think its insulting to everyone to believe that things are that bad. These thoughts are negative energy in my opinion.

That said, one should never fear that which he can abolish at ANY moment. In regards to our form of government, “the People” are GOD (little g). That which is created can NEVER rise above its Creator.

When the time comes to Re-Declare Our Independence and RE-ASSUME OUR AUTHORITY OVER OUR CREATION, we must acknowledge our ownership of America “individually” by saying – I AM THE PEOPLE.

If we abandon the constitution instead of using it against these reprobates that want to argue about candidates, we stand the chance of losing it all.

The irresponsibility of self indulgence, without restaint and parasitism is what got us here. I don’t know if we have time to get it back together. We will either do it by choice or by force. That is what governments do to keep order, so some of the blame falls on our life styles and taking our freedoms for granted.
Freedom requires self discipline and restraint with a constant vigilance. That is what the constitution and its founders tried to create.

You had better start asking your politicians if they are going to “uphold and defend” their constitution or not. This way you can determine who you should vote for and maybe who youo should put in jail.

Bush when he spoke to Congress and NOBODY complained OR levied reprisals against the perpetrators; and if “all the media outlets” are attacking Obama, maybe it’s because WE THE PEOPLE do NOT agree with his high-handed politics. Maybe he should listen to THE PEOPLE! As far as health is concerned, maybe YOU SHOULD do some research!
Look at both Afghanistan and Iran. Relatively small and poor countries, stopping the English, the Russians, and now the American armies from imposing anything, but temporary order under the rule of military might. Stopping the war mongers from achieving success and souring even the greatest war supporters from wanting to pay any more money to support it.
Do you think we have lost the power of the purse? Any effort to control the population will backfire in an instant, a boycott of spending will ensue and the whole economy will collapse. They will not get cooperation regardless of a threat of millions incarcerated in “camps”. Imagine what a country this size, with the furor of a domestic “sunni” type resistance, no government could stand up to such a thing, not to mention it could not get financing.

I didn’t vote for Obama–nor “McPalin” either. I voted my conscience for once– Kucinich. I think he has the better health plan too. “A single payor, not for profit health care system.”
Look at it this way. The absolute worst thing we could have engaged in was the Trade Agreements. Bush41 couldn’t make it fly, but who steps up to the plate, but Clinton, to deliver the final blow to the American public. Clinton renegotiates the US/Paraguaian Extradition treaty that conveniently excludes extradition for crimes of a military or political nature, and then Bush43, the dolt, winds up buying a 99,000+ acre estate in Paraguay …….. just in case things don’t quite work out.
They’re all traitors. And Clinton’s arrogant, in-your-face, testosterone driven posturing and denial is all just political BS to intimidate anyone who questions his actions.
These are all intelligent people, here (well, except for Bush the Lesser). What they lack is a social conscience. They’ve lost that “connectedness” to their own people and their own country.
Gawd, is this country headed into ruin. I mean, all these “kids” coming home from the war, those who had dysfunctional upbringings and TVs for babysitters, those whose best friend after school was a Nintendo or a Sony Playstation, those are the social misfits that the Armed Services are targeting for induction because after finding their “new family”, these kids will have no reservation in arresting or killing their own countrymen, as the TwentyNine Palms Marine induction application has brought to light. And just to be on the safe side, our government is using US soil to supposedly train Russian and other foreign armies to ferret out gun owning civilians …… for “training purposes”. Obama may have had some shred of decency in him coming up to the election (the Bill Ayers thing doesn’t bother me one bit), but after Feinstein and her AIPAC driven cronies read him the riot act, boy did that leopard change his spots. “Undying support for Israel?” Where the hell doers that come from? No wonder the troops will never be coming home. So much for campaign promises.
It’s funny; all that stuff we were fed in Boy Scouts, I actually believed our country was that righteous and good. All we are doing now is repeating the path to pre-WWII Germany. And with all these kids coming home from the war, those that can’t find work will gladly side with their new family members in some “security” position, never questioning the fact that they, themselves, might be the new security problem. And who is going to PAY for all this …. especially when our economy is in the toilet?
It all reminds me of what happens to a human body when its immune system can’t recognize the friendlies from the hostiles and, so, in a broad sweeping attempt to just keep protecting itself from EVERYTHING, it develops an “autoimmune disorder” and ultimately leads to its own demise as it starts killing itself off.
