H1N1 Vaccine Causing Rare Disease

Submitted by Drew Kaplan on November 30, 2009 – 9:56 am14 Comments

gbs21A rare and dangerous disease is on the rise since since the start of H1N1 Swine flu vaccinations. It’s called Guillain-Barre syndrome, also known as GBS. There is a history of GBS being tied to the H1N1 vaccine. During the 1976 swine flu scare, officials vaccinated 45 million people, and of that number, almost 1,100 developed GBS. One boy recently developed GBS shortly after receiving the H1N1 flu shot. He went from playing tennis and basketball to needing a walker to cross the room. Health officials say they are carefully monitoring the H1N1 vaccine program for any dangerous side effects, including a very rare syndrome known as Guillain-Barre syndrome, also known as GBS.

However, CBS News medical correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton reported GBS has been cropping up this year, possibly in connection with the H1N1 vaccine. She shared the story of one young man who developed GBS, and why his parents think it may be related to the H1N1 vaccine.

Jordan McFarland, an athletic 14-year-old, was weeks ago playing tennis and basketball. Now he needs a walker to move from room to room.

McFarland told CBS News, “It’s an aching, but it’s also a pain that I can’t describe.”

Doctors told McFarland’s parents he has GBS, a rare illness where the immune system attacks the nervous system. GBS is treatable, Ashton said, but can cause paralysis, and requires months of physical therapy to recover.

McFarland’s family believes the H1N1 vaccine is to blame, Ashton said. Just one day after he received both the seasonal and H1N1 flu vaccine, he was hospitalized.

Doctors have not confirmed whether his case is directly linked, but there is a history of GBS being tied to the H1N1 vaccine. During the 1976 swine flu scare, officials vaccinated 45 million people, and of that number, almost 1,100 developed GBS, Ashton said.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, of the National Institutes of Health, told CBS News, “If you really look at the scientific data, it is unclear why that happened.”

Now, 30 years later, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) monitors the current H1N1 vaccine for GBS and other side effects.

No one knows how many vaccines have been given, Ashton said, but the CDC says there have been 2,365 reports of adverse effects. Only 116 were considered serious, meaning life threatening. Ashton said, there are six reported cases of GBS, but officials stress a link between these cases and the vaccine have not been confirmed and are being investigated.

Fauci said, “Clearly the risk of the complication of the disease is greater than the risk of the vaccine.”

Ashton added on “The Early Show” that health officials caution that up to 9,000 people get GBS every year, and the chance of getting sick from the flu is higher than the chances of getting GBS from the vaccine.

The risk of getting serious side effects from the vaccine is very, very small, Ashton said.

Ashton said she tells her clients, “‘Make those numbers in to a fraction, put the number of doses of the vaccine administered in the bottom or the denominator and put the serious side effects in the top, divide that out,’ We’re talking 116 life threatening adverse effects, over millions and millions of vaccines. Chances are very small — but they’re not zero.”

As an EMT-I, I got the shot without thinking anything about it as I usually get the flu shot. By that night, my arm was very red and swollen up very big for four days. I felt like something was inside my stomach. I felt nauseous, unable to eat, then when the arm swelling went down, that’s when the vomiting and diarrhea started, not to mention the heart palpitations and severe anxiety. I tell you, I wrote letters to everyone I needed to make amends to, thinking I was dying, I don’t mean to be dramatic, but this was how I felt. I beleived I was going to die. This has been an awful experience and when I told the lady at the health dept. what happened, she said coincidence. I say Baloney! I usually never get sick and take extra good care of myself. I eat right, exercise and have been a little high strung before, but NEVER multiple anxiety attacks like I thought I was going to die. Now it feels like I have a lump in my throat when I swallow and for the first time in my life, acid reflux. My 12 lead EKG was normal, but this has been an awful experience. I will NEVER EVER get another shot that gets pushed through the FDA at the request of the public and media.

Anxiety attacks? Isn’t that one of the main symptoms of mercury poisoning? There is 25 mcg of mercury in every multi-dose shot. Sorry you had such a reaction. I for one refuse to get H1N1 or seasonal flu shots for me or my family.

Thanks for the info on bad reactions and comments. I went to take my son to doctor today for skin issue and saw all these peeps waiting for the shot. Both husband and I refuse to take the shot. I already have anxiety disorder who needs more anxiety after 20 yrs of this problem!??? I am so glad to be more informed than others if they would just get out there and read some of this stuff. My stepdaughter was there waiting to get the shot and the lady she is living with was saying the shot can’t be bad they wouldn’t give it to pregnant women or children. I told her Ha! like H… they wouldn’t. I will not take it. NO thank you if I end up sicker.

Well, it’s 3 mos and 10 days after getting the vaccine and only after doing the fast-5 plan and doing a vaccine detox presecribed by a Mennonite Dr. am I finally feeling better. I spoke w/a friend at church who is a surg nurse who told me several things that are in the shot that are harmful. Also, my massause told me all her sisters friends who were pregnant got the shot and their babys were born normal. The shot contains a beta-blocker that pertains to the lungs. My masseuse’s sister did not get the vaccine. All of her pregnant friends who DID get the vaccine, their baby’s after being born normal ended up in children’s hospital in Columbus on a ventilator. I know some people think I’m some kind of a zealot about how bad this shot is, and I’m not against other vaccines, but I have not met one doctor or nurse at the hospitals yet that I’ve asked who HAS gotten the vaccine. I wish in retrospect I had never gotten it, obviously. I would not be at all surprised to find all kinds of problems coming out in the media about problems w/this vaccine. I also learned that 2 European countries, I believe my dr. told me Romania and Germany had cancelled their orders for the vaccine.

I experienced a horrible panic type reaction within hours of receiving the H1N1 vaccine in October. The anxiety state did not resolve–it was very severe for 3 weeks until I got on medication. Now occassional feelings of internal trembling, feeling scared and generally always just not feeling myself are now persistent reminders. I did have some success with anti-anxiety meds but need to stay on them and add more. I was always a proponent of vaccines–being a nurse–and the first to get them. I was always self-assured,driven, active, healthy and on my game–now I am a fraction of what I was.

What type of detox did you get and have you remained well?

Anyone else get this type of reaction?

Most of the symptoms have now subsided. I used Vaccination Detox by Nature’s Sunshine. It worked pretty good. The indigestion and heartburn which I did not want to deal with the rest of my life (cause it wasn’t going away) has subsided mostly because I stopped eating much food and lost a bunch of weight. I will never ever get another shot that has not had the proper testing. I learned a tough lesson. I think most people do not have any problem, but some people such as you and myself do, and for me I never want to go through what I have been through since October.

    Take care.

Viralox is a concentrated colostrum oral spray. Colostrum has been clinically proven to work 3 times better than flu vaccine.I have been using it for a few months now and have been in contact with people at work that have had the flu and I have not gotten sick. Check it out if you are looking for a alternative to this dangerous vaccine. I believe Mother Nature and her colostrum know better than these flu vaccines manufactures, all natural, safe, no side effects. Have you read what they put in this vaccine? No wonder people are getting sick from it, it is all poisons.I was told as a kid not to touch mercury that it could kill you, so who thought of putting it in a vaccine and why?

I received a seasonal flu shot last year for the first time and totally regret it. I am now allergic to beef, sugar, mold of all things, seeds and peanuts of all kinds. Can’t breathe for most of the time. If you change the natural ammune system or alter it in some way, it will certainly affect its’ natural ability to do what it is suppose to do period. Don’t let some professional medical person tell you otherwise. These so called pros get great support from drug companies.

  • There are safer alternatives to protect you and your family from the flu, but only education can protect you from the use of harmful vaccines.

I as a mother try to do the best for my children, and absolutely refuse to get the vaccine for me or my family. I keep my children’s immune system as strong as possible through nursing them when they were babies(my 2nd till he was almost 3 years old) now through diet and nutritional supplementation. Our bodies will stay healthy if we provide our cells with what they need. I have always refused the “optional vaccines” and spread out the others, but just recently found out that my state will allow refusal of all vaccines if it is “religious” beliefs. We all need to educate ourselves a little better and if more mothers would just nurse their children we would have a lot less dis-ease in our world.

Yes before we won the fight in NY against “mandetory vaccines” to voluntary status in the health care work place, my husband and I put into words a list of SINCERE RELIGOUS BELIEFS and then had it notarized. THERE WAS NO WAY he was getting two vaccines !! First seasonal flu and then swine ! We are Christians and put our scriptural beliefs down; this is our AMENDMENT Constitutional right !!!! BE ENCOURAGED; don’t allow this control to come on you and possibly be mamed for life !!
