GM crops cause liver and kidney damage
(NaturalNews) A report published in the International Journal of Microbiology has verified once again that Monsanto’s genetically modified (GM) crops are causing severe health problems. A legal challenge issued against Monsanto forced the multi-national agriculture giant to release raw data revealing that animals fed its patented GM corn suffered liver and kidney damage within just three months.
Adding to the mounting evidence that GM crops are dangerous all around, this information provides a damning indictment against Monsanto which continually insists that its GM products are safe. Not only are GM crops proving disastrous for the environment, but study after study, including those conducted by Monsanto itself, is showing that GM foods are detrimental to health.
Monsanto’s data indicated that the company had conducted tests on three varieties of its GM corn, two of which contain the dangerous Bt protein, and one designed specifically to resist Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide. All three are widely grown in the United States while only one is currently grown in Europe.
Dr. Gilles-Eric Seralini, a French researcher from the University of Caen, was tasked with examining the data and providing a review. While stopping short of declaring GM crops to be toxic, he did emphasize that chronic negative effects were apparent and that there were “statistically significant” indications of kidney and liver damage.
The specific effects observed in test rats included a buildup of hormones in the blood, indicating that their liver and kidneys were not functioning properly. One variety of the corn led to elevated blood sugar levels and increased triglyceride levels in female rats given it.
Dr. Seralini concluded that, because GM crops are foreign substances that have never been a part of a normal diet, there is no telling what the long-term effects of consumption will be on people. In animals, significant disruption of normal bodily function has been observed even in the short term.
Genetically manipulated food crops are not fit for human consumption and should not be classified as food. No legitimate study has ever proven them to be safe or nutritious. The burden of proof is on the producers of such crops to verify their safety and, to date, all data has revealed that they are unsafe. Claims that GM foods will end world hunger are baseless, propagated only by those that have a financial interest in converting the world’s food supply to their own patented varieties in order to control it.

Monsanto is not interested in anything but controlling seeds, food supply, and designer crops to increase sales of their pesticides. When the same agent orange that we used to defoliate Vietnam is used on crops in the USA, there is no valid reason or study that can reasonably say it is good. The effect of pesticides, i.e. DDT, are not known for generations. Will Monsanto step up to the plate in 30 years and say whoops, we made a mistake and we will pay the generations of damages. NOT, they will file for bankruptcy, reorganize, and continue to deceive the world.

I comment all the time on web sites about this but believe it all falls on deaf ears.Monsanto and now others continue to expand their business without condemnation from governments, government organizations, and the majority of the general population.
I believe that there will have to be massive demonstrations against all governments that hinders their re-election before this can be stopped if ever.I believe that we as consumers have the right to have these products labeled so that we can decide ourselves what to eat and what not to eat.
If people want to believe the powers to be that say this is safe to eat let them eat all they want,I just do not want to take that risk with my family.
I also believe that the longer we wait it will be too late to rid our food supply of products that will contain genetically altered ingredients,in fact it may already be too late.

Chattanooga, TN and surrounding area farmers are making their best effort to grow clean sustainable food crops to sell at local markets. Building that infrastructure is as important as keeping the money in the local economy. Recently, we realized two of our farms were having to supplement with and using locally grown GMO corn, due to the cost of transporting it from VA or KY. We (the consumers) begin to ask the big question of our farmers when spending our money and making our choice of whether we buy tainted food or clean food. We realized that no one was talking about the GMO issue; not even our two biggest health food stores. The word GMO does not appear in any of the claims being made about health, sustainably grown, organic foods, etc. It is the consumer’s responsibility to ask the big question as to whether their farmers are “using” or not. The consumer needs to wake up to this issue and put their money where it can preserve our seeds and foods….our health, our choice. In all the research that is being done on why the honeybee population is dying, not one article has mentioned GMO and the possibility of how that is affecting our honeybees. GMO use is invasive and hidden. YOU HAVE TO START ASKING THE BIG QUESTION. More and more communities are realizing that locally grown food is best for good health, best for the economy, best for the animals, and a means of sustainability for Life. At this point in time, ask your farmer if he/she is using any GMO in any of their operation. Let them know your choice. If you don’t, at some point, you won’t have a choice. Spread the word…..farmers get non-GMO on your signs and on your labels. There are humans out there that have never even heard of it. If we can start this at a local level and word of mouth, we will prevail against this disaster waiting to happen or already in the making. Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts.

The danger is bigger than a few sick live stock or people from ingesting a GMO product. The scary part is the cross pollination with the normal crops in the next field where this non-food gene is passed on to our normal diet with nobody the wiser until it is too late to regulate. Already Europe will not import our soy products that have been contaminated with GMO strains. When will people wake up to the danger here?

The real problem here is the “terminator” gene that is supposed to make their patented plants sterile. The gene uses a male plant hormone to sterilze the male plants. Fortunately, it isn’t immediately effective.
BUT field mice are beginning to show signs of reproductive stress, i.e., smaller litter sizes, lower birth weights, and just plain infertility. Why? Humans use phytohormones (plant hormones) to replace animal hormones (our own). The “terminator” gene is causing male animals to become sterile after eating the GMO/GE grains. This gene is not destroyed through processing or eating. It is utilized by the “animal” that consumes it and then that male animal is no longer a contributor to the gene pool.
We have animal bodies. They will uptake this gene and express it the way it was INTENDED to be expressed – infertility!
