Ron Paul Introduces Unpasteurized Milk Bill
Shortly before announcing his official campaign run for President, Congressman Ron Paul made a statement introducing legislation to allow interstate raw milk sales. He believes that people should have a right to consume something they believe to be healthy and if there is a major concern for safety it should be taken up via state and local laws. He references the recent FDA sting operation prosecuting Rainbow Acres Farm in Pennsylvania for meeting the club members’ demand for unpasteurized milk.
He also introduced legislation to require that the federal government respect state laws allowing industrial hemp to be cultivated in America. Currently industrial hemp is imported. Although industrial hemp is in the technical definition of marijuana, it contains only minute amounts of psychoactive chemicals.
The introduction of these bills have come at a perfect time to garner more awareness and support freedom to consume unpasteurized milk or create products using hemp resources. Paul hopes his colleagues will join him in cosponsoring the bill and promoting individual rights. Read his statement below.

Statement Introducing Unpasteurized Milk Bill, HR 1830
Mr. Speaker, I rise to introduce legislation that allows the shipment and distribution of unpasteurized milk and milk products for human consumption across state lines. This legislation removes an unconstitutional restraint on farmers who wish to sell or otherwise distribute, and people who wish to consume, unpasteurized milk and milk products.
Hard as it is to believe, the federal government is actually spending time and money prosecuting small businesses for the “crime” of meeting their customers’ demand for unpasteurized milk! Recently the Food and Drug Administration conducted a year-long sting operation targeting Rainbow Acres Farms in Pennsylvania. As a result of this action, Rainbow Acres’ customers will no longer be able to purchase unpasteurized milk from this small Amish farm.
Mr. Speaker, many Americans who the government wishes to deny the ability to purchase unpasteurized milk have done their own research and come to the conclusion that unpasteurized milk is healthier than pasteurized milk. These Americans have the right to consume these products without having the federal government second-guess their judgment about what products best promote health. If there are legitimate concerns about the safety of unpasteurized milk, those concerns should be addressed at the state and local level.
I urge my colleagues to join me in promoting individual rights, the original intent of the Constitution, and federalism by cosponsoring my legislation to allow the interstate shipment of unpasteurized milk and milk products for human consumption.
Congressman, Ron Paul
14th District of Texas

Thank you Doctor Paul.
Raw Milk is GREAT Food
“Raw milk from cows living in a natural mineral-rich environment is another story. Doctor Price thoroughly documents the health of Swiss Alpine villagers, isolated from processed foods. Some of these healthy people lived on a diet centered around raw butter and raw cheese, from cows and goats. Their health was far better than most of ours today. The point is that natural, unprocessed, unpasteurized dairy products could be a superlative nutritional staple, because it is loaded with the fat soluble vitamins A, D, and E, minerals and enzymes.” The Doctor Within
“Raw milk from grass-fed cows has been used for disease prevention since the time of Hippocrates.1 Grass-fed raw milk builds immunity. Any time you build your immunity, you help prevent disease. Grass-fed raw milk is a good source of important disease fighters like vitamins and minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids, and good bacteria to strengthen your immune system. When you pasteurize milk, the heat destroys all of the immune-fighting properties. Grass-fed raw milk also contains the most important health-building ingredient of all: enzymes. Enzymes are inflammation fighters and immune builders. But they’re destroyed within minutes by heat during pasteurization.” Doctor Al Sears MD
“By legislating against the sale or distribution of raw milk, states force farmers to sell their milk (at a fraction of market value, by the way) to the big milk processors. This creates a “paper trail” on the milk, which can then be used as the basis for collecting tax revenue from those processors — and likely the farmers, too.” Doctor William Douglass MD
“Raw milk contains the highest levels of absorbable calcium, essential fatty acids and critical nutrients like vitamins B12 and B6. It also tastes a heck of a lot better than that watered down factory garbage. The only problem is getting it: Big Dairy has blocked any move at making raw milk accessible. Every state has different laws regarding raw milk. Your best option is to call your local dairy farm — you may need to speak in code, but they can probably help you out.” Doctor William Douglass MD
“Raw milk has natural enzymes that kill pathogens—enzymes that are destroyed by pasteurization.” Mark McAfee
“Mark McAfee, owner of Organic Pastures, the largest raw dairy in the United States, performed the following test: He inoculated pathogenic contaminants such as E. coli, Listeria and Salmonella into his raw milk, and into pasteurized milk. In the raw milk, none of the pathogens survived because the natural bacteria were able to protect the milk. In the pasteurized milk, however — in which the bacteria and enzymes have been destroyed — the pathogens were able to take over.” Doctor Joseph Mercola MD
In 1938 I lived on a farm with my grandparents. My Grandfather milked a cow in the morning and brought the pail of milk into the house from the barn. It was poured through a filter into a pitcher where it sat on the counter until the cream had risen to the top. The cream was poured off and mixed with previous amounts and eventually mixed into butter. From this operation came Buttermilk. None of this was pasteurized or homogenized. I was 8 years old then and am now a healthy 81. I survived unpasteurized milk. I can again. Thanks to Mr. Paul I may be able to taste real milk again.
I wish we had more Ron Paul’s in government.
Bravo, now the people must get behind Ron Paul and this legislation. Big Dairy have had their time at the plate, now its time to support the small guy in this “land of corporate rule.” Let’s take America back from special interests. Let’s send our American forefathers a message. They can’t sleep through this blasphemy. Thank you Ron Paul and good luck to all of those great Americans that are at the rally in DC.
Hooray for Ron Paul
I only hope this can make it through and pass, but then I have already voted for Ron Paul for president (and I will once again). We have lost many of our constitutional rights and a huge number when the “Patriot Act” (which is anything but patriotic) was put into force). I drink 6-7 quarts of organic grass fed raw milk each week and have hundreds of my patients and thousands of my students drinking it for its health benefits as well. My DVD on the topis is available from ppnf.org if you search it in their bookstore under my name (Price-Pottenger Nutrition Founation). Go Ron Paul, keep fighting for our rights!
Way to go Dr. Ron Paul!!! We have been waiting for someone like you to get into the white house and support all of us who want the freedom to make our own choices as to what we put in our bodies. I will vote for you! Thank you for fightin for our freedom!! Donna from Surprise Az
Thank you Dr. Ron Paul.
I will vote for you again!
Thank you! I’ll vote for you!!
Ron, you have my vote! Although I’m not an advocate of dairy consumption, I am interested in seeing the Federal government release its chokehold on our health freedoms. It’s horrific how the FDA has terrorized small, private, health conscious farmers and food co-ops…while big, greedy Pharmaceutic, Agriculture, Frankenfood, Tobacco, Fastfood and Sick “Care” industries kill off our population by the hundreds of thousands annually. Let’s do taxpayers a service and disband the FDA once and for all. It has been a complete and total failure!
Ron, you have my vote. The Federal Government should respect what the public wants and not big chemical companies want. GMO foods do more harm than good. The GMO products
may grow bigger and faster but the effects on the human body can be seen on our children.
Many have problems related to the chemicals found in the GMO foods they consume.
Kudos to Dr. Ron Paul. Those of us who value our right to purchase foods and supplements that we deem beneficial to our health had better be in the voting booth when the primary elections start coming up. Ron Paul is truly looking after our interests, instead of agri-biz and big pharma.
Thank You Ron Paul. You have my vote.
I grew up next to a dairy farm in CT. We got our milk from them and pasturized it. I hated our milk. My best friend lived 4 houses down and had store milk in bottles – I thought. I loved her milk and begged my parents to buy store milk. Two years ago, 50 years later, I was visiting Karen on my way to my mother’s from the airport. She asked me if I wanted milk for lunch. When I said yes, she asked if I wanted pasturized or raw milk. In shock, I asked “you drink raw milk?” She answered, “we always had raw milk when I was growing up. We got it at E___’s just like you did. The difference was that my family pasturized the milk and her family didn’t. However my body knew that the raw milk was better for it. I loved Karen’s milk and hated ours.
I wish he would also introduce a bill to dismantle the FDA.
Thank you Dr. Ron Paul for being one of the few sane, honorable, truthful patriots inside the beltway – I voted for you as Pres. and will do so again, this country needs you and many more like you to find voice and restore reason and sensibility to the mess the power-elite has brokered for and on the backs of hard-working citizens who just want to be able to do right for the health and well-being of their families and communities. I and many others applaud you for allowing people to have healthier, more wholesome, natural choices for their nutrition and health needs.
I applaud what the Congressman is doing. I wonder if he would also urge his colleagues to join him in promoting individuals’ rights to know what is in their food? Neurotoxic, endocrine disrupting MSG (manufactured free glutamic acid)
is presently hidden in over 40 ingredients with names that give no clue to its presence. (See http://www.evidenceofmsgtoxicity.blogspot.com and http://copingwithmsg.blogspot.com.)
I agree with everyone else who is posting. Thank you very much Congressman Paul for standing for our individual rights and health freedom, as well as for your work on “audit the fed”. You will again have my vote for president.
PLEASE run for president as an independent (and have Jesse Ventura as your running mate).
